Community-based probation is an alternative to incarceration where convicted offenders serve their sentences while living in the community under strict supervision. Locally, supervision and rehabilitation programs are managed by regional community corrections agencies, which enforce conditions like drug testing, community service, and counseling to ensure public safety.
Individuals placed on Community-Based Probation must contact the agency within 7 days of the time of referral.
Conditions of Supervision
Conditions of supervision may include:
- Drug and alcohol screening or testing
- Maintain or actively seek employment
- Comply with no-contact orders
- Refrain from the use of alcohol
- Refrain from the use of marijuana
- Refrain from the use of illegal drugs or controlled substances not prescribed by a licensed health care provider
- Participate in support groups, counseling, or treatment as directed
- Mental health evaluation and treatment
- Substance abuse evaluation and treatment
- Anger management courses
- Batterer’s intervention courses

- A current pay stub for employment verification, if you are employed
- Proof of residence, such as a utility bill, lease agreement, or official mail

Office Hours
Community Corrections office hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The entrance is on the right side of the Northern Neck Regional Jail, viewed from the parking lot.
